27th August - Specialisation
We had the pleasure of meeting up with my old off-sider Eliza from the LIV today at her new job for The Society of Writers to Her Majesty’s Signet. A fancy title for a professional association of lawyers who are interested in introducing a specialisation scheme. She was poached from us after her new manager spent a week at the LIV on a fact finding mission.
Eliza at her desk
The Signet was first used in 1369 but the society did not take definite shape until 1594 (although they trace their history further back) whilst their building in just under 200 years old. It has about 1000 members and 10 staff.
Eliza and a visitor in the library
As you can see from the photos it’s an old and spectacular building inside. One of the books behind Eliza’s desk contains documents from 1745!
